Best pizza ever. We had the diavolo and the doc. Both were amazing. Good service and really cheap.

On a busy little street in Naples I found an excellent pizza! Full disclosure, I was looking for it. I had the pizza diavola, it's my go to pizza. They nailed it! Perfect crust, excellent spicy sausage and a wonderful sauce. The staff was friendly and the prices were good. I guess if you're said to be the oldest pizzerias in the world, you've probably had time to get it dialed in.

This was my first time eating pizza in Italy and I was underwhelmed. This was also our last choice, because the other two places recommended to us which had stellar reviews were CLOSED, so this was what was left. Keep in mind maybe there's a placebo effect going on in my brain, being that I came here based on disappointment from the other places being closed and this was our last resort.

I keep reading this was one of the first pizzeria's to open and that there's so much history to it but I would have never known based on my experience. I still think my experience at a New York pizzeria far surpassed here.

Keep in mind Neopolitan pizza's are defined as such based on Wiki; "... made with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. It must be made with San Marzano tomatoes, which grow on the volcanic plains to the south of Mount Vesuvius, and Mozzarella di Bufala Campana, a protected designation of origin cheese made with the milk from water buffalo raised in the marshlands of Campania and Lazio in a semi-wild state..."

I ordered the Pizza Doc (buffalo mozzarella, evoo, basil, cherry tomato). It was HUGE, could have been shared by two people. I thought Neopolitan pizzas were single servings, not American sized. Not what I expected. It was good, but nothing I felt stood out. Nothing tasted any different than artisan pizza places I have had back home. Maybe this whole "pizza in Italy" experience is only in the movies!

Le sigh, from a mourning tourist.

WOW so fresh! so flavorful! I always figured the best way to experience pizza is with fewer ingredients that stand out (instead of excessive toppings). Here is the proof that even with just the traditional ingredients, there is a marked difference in taste.

The mozzarella was my favorite part - it is just so fresh and the flavor is really distinguished. Then the sauce is so smooth and fresh. Finally the basil gives the perfect garnish and aroma.

We were lucky to come during low hours and off peak season - only a 5 minute wait. This restaurant holds true to the adage: better to do few things superbly instead of many things mediocrely.

A perfectly fine pizza.  Very good menu in English.  Didn't appreciate someone dumping dish water (or worse) down the open drain near our outdoor table.  What was all that excess water in the open seating area anyway??
